A family farming lifestyle, a career in mechanical engineering, and a longing for home and his young family – combined with a life-long obsession with beer is probably the perfect recipe for heading up an award-winning, self-sufficient, and 100% independently Aussie-owned farm-based brewery.
An incredible journey of passion and providence took a number of years to plan before commencing full-scale production just outside Orange NSW, in December 2017, the debut of our Pioneer Brewing Co. core range made a big amber-hued splash due to a loyal local following.
Within the first 6 months, we’d collected a combined 7 awards at the esteemed Australian International Beer Awards and the Australian Independent Beer Awards 2018.
Again, in 2019, our Vienna Lager, Amber Ale and Cargo Gold were awarded at the Australian International Beer Awards and swag of awards at the Australian Independent Beer Awards 2019.
We’re continually crafting new lagers, ales and seasonal brews from the produce grown right here on our family farm, catering to all beer connoisseurs from an mid-strength sessionable aussie lager, to a hoppy pale ale or IPA or perhaps you preference is dark and malty; our unique brand has a brew for everyone.
And as traditionalists valuing flavour above all ourselves, our crowd-pleaser sessionable range perfectly demonstrates the ability of low-mid strength beer to pack a full flavour that’s well-worthy of being savoured time and time again – which to us, is the very purpose of enjoying a beer generally, and the same sentiment should especially apply to a lighter, easy-drinking sessionable beer too.
Having travelled and worked in over 70 countries across the globe, initially as a backpacker and then as a skilled engineer, Pete was fortunate to have the opportunity to taste, visit and be exposed to the art and science of beer brewing.
We’re known for taking no short cuts, so we can bring the best of those styles and characteristics from around the world into our range and applying our own stamp and signature style.
As the only brewery on Australia’s eastern seaboard mainland to sow, grow and harvest our malting quality barley, rye and wheat from the volcanic soils of our family farm, and once malted, it doesn’t leave our grip again until it’s placed firmly in yours., We can loudly and proudly say we are Pioneers in the way we manage placing the grain seed in the ground to the brew which ends up in your hand.
Personally, we’re a young family who love the land and a regional lifestyle, and believe kids should grow up with dirt between their toes. We’re an 100% independently owned, family business passionate about our local community, it sure does take a village to raise a brewery- supporting local business is supporting local families.
We’re an independent microbrewery with plenty of room to grow and the ability to keep up with demand, without losing sight or compromising on the very values our foundations are built on.
Our farm-based brewery is located a picturesque drive 25-minutes south-west of Orange’s heart, between the rural villages of Cargo and Cudal.
